Back from Thailand, Leaving again soon

Writer's picture: Paul WynnPaul Wynn

This month is pretty unique in the history of OneMessage.tv. We have never had two field production trips fall this closely together.

We just returned from our trip to Thailand to complete the recording of the video Bible story library for the Isaan people. It was another incredible project with the Hug Isaan movement.

Recording the 10 Commandments story with Pharaoh, King of Egypt.
Recording the 10 Commandments story with Pharaoh, King of Egypt.

Just a reminder that there are 22-23 million Isaan people in northeast Thailand, and when we began our project with them a year ago, there were fewer than 40,000 believers. When we returned this month, that number is now up to 60,000 believers!

Hug Isaan is a network of churches that are partnering across denominational lines to reach the Isaan people with the gospel. They have a 10-year goal of starting 2,678 churches for the Isaan people. At the five year halfway point, there are 1,200 new churches!

Not only were we able to complete the ten remaining stories to be recorded, but we were also able to experience a movie night showing some of our first stories. Hug Isaan is trying to start a new church in the village where the movie night was held. They have been building relationships through English classes for children and providing food to the adults. This evangelistic event was the natural outgrowth of those ministries.

An altar call at the night's end led to a handful of decisions to follow Christ. The next step will be establishing a worship time. It’s always exciting to see firsthand the videos being used in ministry, especially when it could grow into a church.

If you missed any of the on-location updates, you can catch them all right here.

With barely enough time to reset our body clocks, in two weeks we will be returning to Africa to begin a brand-new library in Swahili. Swahili is a language spoken across many borders in Africa.

It’s been a goal of OneMessage.tv to record libraries in a number of “trade languages,” or languages that many people use and understand.

Those languages include Arabic, Spanish, and… Swahili.

Our crew is traveling to Mombasa, Kenya in a region that speaks Swahili in a dialect that is easily understood across the continent.

By the end of March, OneMessage.tv will have recorded 160 Bible stories in nine different languages. That's only possible because of a passionate community of Senders like you!

OneMessage.tv is planning to record five different projects this year. If you would like to be a part of these projects and others coming soon, please donate here.
